Lauren Barrett holds an undergraduate degree from California State University Fresno where she worked with the Viticulture and Enology Research Center managing sensory analysis across a diversity of research projects. She was awarded a scholarship to pursue her joint M.Sc. in Viticulture and Enology from Montpellier SupAgro INRA and Instituto Superior de Agronomia Universidade de Lisboa in the Vinifera Euromaster’s Program. Her thesis work was with the Australian Wine Research Institute, where she worked with the bioscience teams in understanding yeast interactions and metabolomics. Her passion for understanding functional metabolites blossomed from this experience and inspired her to explore functional nutraceuticals for improving human health. She has been a winemaker across the globe and most recently as a winemaking consultant and scientific communicator for Vinquiry and Enartis. Her fascination with the health benefits of wine and the growing demand for new categories of non-alcoholic beverages led her to BevZero where she will spearhead these trends as Global Innovation Manager.
